Shrubby Crassula
(Weed)
Crassula tetragonia

Crassula tetragona is a succulent plant native to Southern Africa. Crassula is from the Latin crassus meaning thick and referring to the fleshy leaves and stems. This weed is a shrubby, dense-growing species with stiff woody stems covered in pine-like deep green needle leaves. It grows to a height of 20cm. Small cream coloured flowers appear in spring and summer.

It is popularly named the "miniature pine tree" among ornamental plant enthusiasts, for its popular use as a "pine tree" in Bonsai.

This species is often planted in local gardens due to its drought loving temperament but is able to invade native vegetation. Large infestations are present at Taylors Park in Torquay as an example of the potential impacts of this species.
